Let me introduce you to The Real Big Brother, the eponymously named, public snoop, Mr Brokenshire MP, Minister for Crime and Security.
I thought this was dead. I thought this daft and dangerous idea had been crushed under the weight of its own crass stupidity. But no, it has taken an even bigger idiot than the last one to pries it out from under the pile of guano it was buried in.
“Civil liberties groups have criticised plans for the government to be able to monitor the calls, emails, texts and website visits of everyone in the UK.
Internet firms will be required to give intelligence agency GCHQ access to communications in real time under new legislation set to be announced soon.”

To be clear, this madman wants to give GCHQ – and, if it’s anything like how it works at the moment, a wide range of busy bodies, including your local council – direct access to every record of every web page, email and telephone call that you visit or make, in real time and without asking a Magistrate for a warrant to do it.
This is utter madness and hopefully when the costs of doing this are demonstrated it will crawl back into the dung heap that it came from.
Unless, of course, they expect the industry – which means your VoIP phone and internet bills – to fund it for them…….
Mr Brokenshire’s webpage’s strapline is
Working for Old Bexley & Sidcup… Working for you
I suggest it is now changed to
Working for GCHQ … Spying on you
